I Speak Soccer screened in front of a packed house at NW Film Forum on Tuesday night. After the show, which included a lively Q & A with the director, Kegel invited the crowd to reassemble down the street at Bobby Morris field for some pickup of their own. Inspired by the movie, players experimented with different playing styles and reenacted favorite moments seen on the big screen. In the true spirit of pickup, the game brought together players of all ages and abilities, some childhood friends and soccer teammates of the director, others recent acquaintances and newcomers to the game. A final breakaway goal ended the match 3-2 in favor of the darks.
